Holy Baptism
What is Holy Baptism?
Baptism marks our entry into the family of faith and unites us with the Body of Christ. In the Episcopal Church, Baptism is received once and is not repeated.
Who is eligible for Baptism?
Those seeking Baptism for themselves or their child are invited to begin a lifelong journey of faith in Christ. Through Baptism, we are united with Christ and welcomed into the fellowship of the Church. Because the Baptismal Covenant calls us into a life of worship, learning, service, and fellowship, candidates and families are encouraged to be active participants in the Church community as they continue to grow in faith and discipleship.

How do we prepare for Baptism at the Church of the Advent?
- Review Holy Baptism Information.
- Complete a Baptism Registration Form.
- Spend time reviewing the materials provided by the clergy and reflecting on the promises of the Baptismal Covenant. After completing your form, you can pick up a copy of “Preparing for Baptism in the Episcopal Church” by Anne E. Kitch from the church office (of if you’re unable to come into the office during this time, here is a copy you can purchase online). Please read this book before attending the class.
- Attend a Sacrament of Holy Baptism Class.
The clergy and parish staff are available to answer questions and help you prepare for this important step in your life of faith.
