To show Christ’s light in us through worship and prayer,
play and work, sharing and giving, that all may know Him.
Mission Statement
That Christ’s light be seen in us.

Dear Fellow Parishioners,

Events of the past week were unexpected and surprising.  As you know, the full Vestry was scheduled to meet with Bill Greeley, Bishop Henderson, and Canon Bullock on Tuesday afternoon.  That meeting never occurred, as it was apparent that Bill was unprepared to return to the Advent as Rector.

The Church of the Advent has given roots to twenty graduating high school seniors. It is now time to bless them and give them their wings. Our annual baccalaureate service will be on Sunday, May 18. Graduates will be honored with a brunch prior to the 10:30 service. Please join us as we send them out "to love and serve the Lord".

All of the volunteers at THE ADVENT SHOPPE would like to thank the parishioners at The Church of the Advent for the tremendous support you have given us.  Since we opened Advent Sunday we have sold nearly $18,000 in merchandise. All profits will be donated to local community outreach projects.  We have recently received a variety of new books.  Two of these books relate to Father Roy Cole's class on the resurrection: Jesus by Marcus Borg and The Meaning of Jesus: Two Visions by Marcus Borg and N. T. Wright.

Sign up for sports camp - that's right, sports camp.  Everyone from three-year-olds through rising fifth graders will be learning how to be one of God's champions.  We'll learn about Phillip, Zacchaeus, Elisha, Josiah, and Peter -  and how to tell the truth, make wise decisions, study God's word, and share God's love with others.  All this while playing soccer, baseball, football, hockey, climbing mountains, singing songs and meeting new friends.   There will be a special program for rising fifth graders, allowing them to share God's love with others in our community.  pdf 2008 VBS Registration

What is stewardship?

Each child and young person enrolled in Sunday formation classes now has the chance to participate in the Advent's year-round stewardship efforts.  Most of them have picked up their envelopes and many are turning them in each week.  It is fun to see the small envelopes being opened along with the regular parish offerings each week.
